Teacher Hamid Hussein Hamid was known as Hamid Effendi. He joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in 1957. He joined the ranks of the Peshmerga forces in 1961. In 1979, he was elected as a member of the central committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party at the ninth congress. In 1989, he was elected as a member of the central committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party by the representatives of the congress at the tenth congress. In 2001, he received the post of Minister of Peshmerga in the fourth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government. He passed away in 2023.
Biography
Teacher Hamid Hussein Hamid was known as Hamid Effendi and was born in Hewler in 1934. He began his education in the village of Sidekan in Hewler province in 1941. He completed his preparatory stage in the literature department in 1957. He graduated from the Hewler Teachers' College and in 1958 applied to the Iraqi Aviation College, but was not accepted because he was a Kurd. In 1959, he was established as a teacher at the Delziyan Primary School in the Hewler province education department. In 1960, he was established as the principal of the Sidekan Primary School in the Hewler province education department. In 1975, after the defeat of the September Revolution, he emigrated to the Iranian province. He was proficient in Kurdish, Arabic, English and Persian. He has two works titled (A Preface to Partisanship in Kurdistan, 1984, and Military Education in Kurdistan, 1986). He passed away on February 17, 2023 in the city of Erbil.

In 1966, he participated as a commander in the Zozik battle against the Iraqi army. In 1970, he was a delegate to the eighth congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the village of Nawpirdan. In 1974, he participated in the first battle of the Omar Axa Brigade against the Iraqi army and was wounded there. In September 1974, he was in command of the Sartiz attack against the Iraqi army, where he managed to eliminate the 29th Infantry Division of the Iraqi army. In 1975, he participated in the second battle of Geruyê Omar Axa against the Iraqi army. In 1975, he participated in the Zozik battle against the Iraqi army. In 1975, after the defeat of the September Revolution, he emigrated to the Shahnishin of Iran. In 1977, he joined the ranks of the Peshmerga forces of the interim leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party for the second time and became the commander of the Baradost area. In 1978, he participated in the Battle of Baz. In 1979, at the ninth congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, he was elected as a member of the central committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In 1983, he became a member of the military leadership committee of the Kurdistan Front forces. In 1984, he became a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's electoral committee, which was part of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's third and fourth district committees.
In 1985, he became the head of the fourth division. In 1988, he participated in the planning of the liberation of Sharazur from the Iraqi army as a representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In 1988, he participated in the Khwakurk campaign against the Iraqi army and the tribal armed forces supporting them as the head of the fourth division. In the years (1985-1986), he was a military instructor at the eighth division of the Kurdistan Democratic Party cadres' academy in the village of Rajan in Eastern Kurdistan. From April 7 to 14, 1991, he participated as a commander in the Korê operation against the attacks of the Iraqi army's armored units. In 1992, he became the commander of the fifth army of the Kurdistan Revolutionary Army (KRI). On August 16, 1996, he was awarded the Barzani Medal of Immortality by President Masoud Barzani for his service in the September and May revolutions and the uprising in Southern Kurdistan on the 50th anniversary of the founding and golden jubilee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. On November 29, 1997, as the commander of the Sidekan battalion, he defeated the attack of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan forces. In 1999, he was a delegate to the 12th congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Erbil and ran for membership in the central committee, but did not participate. In 2000, he became the head of the Supreme Council of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, whose headquarters were opened by the President on January 6, 2000.
