Abdulrahman Rasul Haji Khalil

Abdulrahman Rasul Haji Khalil, known as Abu Sivan, was born in 1945 in the city of Zakho, in the province of Dohuk. On November 30, 1983, Abdulrahman Rasul Haji Khalil, along with 13 other Peshmerga soldiers who were on a military mission in the city of Duhok, were arrested by the Ba'ath regime, and after six months in detention, they were sentenced to life imprisonment and sent to Abu Ghraib prison. However, after five (5) years in prison and after the extensive Anfal operation and chemical weapons attacks on the Behdinan district, they were released on September 14, 1988. After their release from prison, they became Peshmerga soldiers for up to 7 months with Muhammad Ali Akhmir, Yusif Muhammad Akhmir and Star Khalid. In 1991, he played a prominent role in the liberation of the city of Acre and later became the Head of the Zakho Security Committee and a member of the Kurdistan Front.

 

In 1992, he became the Commander of the Resistance Forces and later assumed the position of Deputy of the Military Council. In 1997, he became the Commander of the Partisan Forces in Zakho and Semel on the border of Duhok province. Abdulrahman Rasul Haji Khalil was wounded 6 times in his Peshmerga life and is now a minor and his right leg is amputated. At the thirteenth congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in 2010, the President Masoud Barzani He has received the Barzani Medal. He holds the rank of Lieutenant and is a member of the Kurdistan Political Prisoners' High Commission.
