The Bamarn district is located on the slopes of Mount Metina in the Amediye district of Duhok province, during the September Revolution Major battles were fought there in the 19th century, the most famous of which was the Battle of Mount Metina. It is clear that these and many other epics have played a major role in shaping the pages of history, with the battles and bravery recorded by the Peshmerga Forces in their struggle for freedom.
The struggle continues May Revolution The Peshmerga activities in various regions of Kurdistan were incorporated into the state, and through partisan methods they were able to inflict deadly blows on the military and security institutions of the Ba'ir government. The Ba'irneh Dastan is one of the Peshmerga campaigns against the bases and headquarters of the Iraqi army in the Ba'irneh area, where on the night of May 26-27, 1987, the Peshmerga forces of the Amediye, Duhok, Sheikhan Committees and the national defense forces carried out an attack.
Although the Peshmerga attack was postponed overnight due to the withdrawal of the gangs who had promised to help, an extensive military plan was then launched to attack the Iraqi army bases in the region, and in a short time, 13 positions, the Bamarneh airport, the headquarters of the border protection battalion, and the 140th battalion were captured. The Iraqi army suffered heavy blows and more than 100 soldiers were killed and 58 soldiers were taken prisoner. The war gains included more than 215 pieces of various weapons and more than 20,150 different bullets. It is clear that the Peshmerga forces were not without losses, as two Peshmerga fighters named Fawzi Ramazan Rasho Sukrin and Abdul Sattar Salih Murad were martyred and 30 Peshmerga fighters were wounded.
In this attack, 32 thousand dinars were seized from the battalion headquarters. The Peshmerga and officials immediately stood up and presented the money to the families of the martyrs. It is clear that the success of this saga and the strong blow to the government's military institutions was a great morale boost for the revolution and the Peshmerga forces, and it was also a strong message to the Bais regime that the revolution was ongoing and that it could carry out major operations wherever it wanted.
