Taha Muhyedin Ma'ruf, known as (Taha Haji Mullah Muhyedin), was elected as a member of the Central Committee in 1946 at the (First Congress). On Friday, May 2, 2003, after the overthrow of the Saddam Hussein regime, he surrendered to the forces of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK). He was briefly detained by United States forces and later released. After that, he moved to the city of Sulaymaniyah and later lived in the town of Dukan in the Sulaymaniyah province.
Biography
Taha Muhyedin Ma'ruf, known as (Taha Haji Mela Muhyedin), was born in 1924 in the city of Sulaymaniyah. He is from the Mirkhoz family of Hamedan, who are Kurds from Eastern Kurdistan and migrated to Sulaymaniyah from the nearby city of Hamedan. In 1946, he was an actor in the play (On the Path of the Nation) which was staged in Sulaymaniyah and the proceeds were spent on the victims of the earthquake in the town of Penjiwen in Sulaymaniyah province. In 1948, he received a bachelor's degree and a law degree from the Baghdad College of Law. On May 29, 1955, by royal decree, his rank in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Iraq was raised from the first rank of the third class to the third rank of the second class. In 2007, he went to Jordan for medical treatment. He passed away on August 7, 2009, in Amman, the capital of Jordan, and was buried in Sulaymaniyah. He was fluent in Kurdish, Arabic, and English.

In 1945, he was a member of the founding board and a member of the political school of the Kurdish Liberation Party. In 1946, with the aim of self-destruction, he participated in the Second Congress of the Kurdish Liberation Party in Baghdad and joined the Kurdish Democratic Party and voted "Yes". In 1946, he was secretly elected by the congress delegates as a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdish Democratic Party (First Congress). In 1946, he was appointed as one of the officials of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Sulaymaniyah. In 1946, as a representative of the Kurdish Democratic Party, he established contact with Yusuf Salman Yusuf (1901 - 1949), known as Fahed, Secretary of the Iraqi Communist Party, for the purpose of joint action. In 1957, he was the second secretary of the Iraqi embassy in Cairo, the capital of the Republic of Egypt, and helped the delegation of the United Democratic Party of Kurdistan to deliver their charter to the People's Congress (Asia - Africa). In 1962, he was the deputy ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to London, the capital of the United Kingdom. In 1968, he became a diplomat at the Iraqi embassy and was assigned to London with the rank of minister. On July 31, 1968, he was appointed as a minister of state in the cabinet of Ahmed Hassan Bakr (1914 - 1982). On August 12, 1968, he was appointed as the acting minister of agricultural reform by a republican decree. On August 29, 1968, he was appointed as the acting minister of municipal and rural affairs by a republican decree. On September 19, 1968, he was appointed acting Minister of Labor and Housing by a republican decree (Ehmed Hesen Bekir's cabinet) and was part of the Ibrahim Ahmed - Jalal Talabani group.
On October 26, 1968, he was one of the signatories of the Iraqi delegation to the mutual defense agreement between the Republic of Iraq and the Syrian Arab Republic. On December 13, 1969, he was appointed Minister of Municipal Affairs and Rural Affairs by a republican decree. On March 29, 1970, he was transferred to the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an ambassador with the rank of Minister of State by a republican decree. On June 7, 1970, he was appointed Ambassador of Iraq to the Republic of Italy by a republican decree. In July 1971, he was appointed Ambassador-at-Large to Albania and Malta, along with the Embassy in the Republic of Italy. On Saturday, October 5, 1974, he attended the opening of the Legislative Council for the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan in one of the schools in the city of Erbil, which was organized by the Arab Ba'ath Party, and read a speech in Arabic. On Sunday, April 21, 1974, he was appointed Vice President by Ahmed Hassan Bakr (1914 - 1982), the President of Iraq, and remained in this position during the reign of Saddam Hussein (1937 - 2006) until the fall of his regime in 2003. On Saturday, October 5, 1974, represented by Ahmed Hassan Bakr, he opened the first session of the Legislative Council in the Kurdistan Region and in the city of Erbil.
On February 27, 1975, he was appointed as the head of the Supreme Council for Tourism and Resorts of Iraq by the Iraqi Revolutionary Leadership Council. On Monday, October 28, 1974, he was received at the Baghdad Palace by Michel Aflaq (1912 - 1989), Secretary General of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party. On Tuesday, July 15, 1975, he was received in Baghdad by Michel Aflaq, Secretary General of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party. In December 1975, he was appointed as a member of the Supreme Committee of the National and Progressive Front (Al-Jabha al-Wataniyyah wal-Qawmiyyah al-Taqedumiyah). In 1979, he was awarded the National Medal (Cruzeiro do Sul) with the rank of (Grande - Cruz) by the Republic of Brazil. In 1981, he was awarded the medal (Grand Cross) by the Republic of Senegal. In 1981, he was awarded the Medal of Senior Officers by the President of Mali. In 1982, he became a member of the Revolutionary Leadership Council of the Arab Ba'ath Party. In 2003, he was ranked 42nd on the list of 55 ruling leaders of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party whose capture was rewarded by the allies. On Friday, May 2, 2003, after the overthrow of the Saddam Hussein regime, he surrendered to the forces of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and was briefly held by the United States forces before being released. After that, he moved to the city of Sulaymaniyah and later lived in the town of Dukan in Sulaymaniyah province, away from the eyes of institutions and media outlets.
