Halima Abdullah Ahmed, also known as Mother Halima, was born in 1937 in the village of Pistagiri in the Zawita area of Duhok province. Her husband was Commander Abdulhadi Muhammad Saado, the commander of the 4th battalion, Muhammad Hassan Bajiluri. Abdulhadi was martyred in the mountains behind Duhok in 1975. Mother Halima remained in her village with her six sons and four daughters and is one of those selfless and heroic women whose husband and four sons were martyred in the path of Kurdistan's freedom. She passed away on April 29, 1997.
After the fall of the Shah of Iran, many Peshmerga fighters went to Southern Kurdistan, and Mother Halima's house became a shelter for the Peshmerga forces. In early 1982, one of her sons, Eyûb, became a Peshmerga fighter and was martyred in the village of Geverkê on February 10, 1982. After him, another son, Ismail, became a Peshmerga fighter and was martyred on September 29, 1984, on Mount Kemeka near the village of Baboxkê, and his body was captured by the Iraqi army. Mother Halima's third son, Salah, became a Peshmerga fighter after the martyrdom of his brothers and was martyred in Acre on July 20, 1986. After the martyrdom of his brothers, Halima's fourth son, Mihemed, also known as Hemo, joined the Peshmerga forces and was martyred on April 19, 1987, on the main road between Duhok and Amêdiye.
Mother Halima's house has always been seen as a base for the Peshmerga forces in the region and has been treated with respect and love by the people. In 1985, she moved to the liberated areas and settled in the villages of Badê and Botiya in Zawîte and Khaziyava. In 1988, after the Anfal and the Iraqi regime's chemical weapons attacks on the area, she and her children tried to go to Northern Kurdistan, but were blocked by the Iraqi army and were forced to return and hide in a forest for a while. They were then arrested by the regime and held in prison for 14 days before being released due to protests from the local people.
In 1991, he was one of the leaders of the uprising of the people of Kurdistan. On August 16, 1996, he was awarded the Barzani Medal on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
