In 1961, he contacted the Kurdistan Students' Union and became a member. In 1963, he contacted the organizations of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. After graduating from college, he became the Head of the Drama Department at the Kurdish Radio in Baghdad. In 1973, he founded the Peşrawani theater group. In 1974, he became the Director of the September Revolution Theater and Cinema in the Penjwen district. On April 24, 1974, he was seriously injured in the bombing of the city of Qaladiz by Iraqi army warplanes. In 1975, after the defeat of the September Revolution, he returned to the city of Sulaymaniyah and became the Assistant (Rector) for Scientific Research at the University of Sulaymaniyah and also the supervisor of the university's theater. He was one of the founders of the university's theater group.
In 1976, he became the Director of the Cultural Library of the University of Sulaymaniyah. From 1980 to 1991, he was a teacher in the theater department of the Sulaymaniyah Fine Arts Academy. In 1982, he contacted the secret organizations of the 4th Division of the Kurdistan Democratic Party through Fazil Rauf. In 1991, he participated in the uprising and uprising of the Kurdistan public in the city of Sulaymaniyah against the Iraqi government. In 1991, after the establishment of the Kurdistan Television (KTV) channel, he became the Director of that television station in the city of Sulaymaniyah.
On May 19, 1992, he was elected as a Member of the Kurdistan Parliament on the list of the Kurdistan Democratic Party as a representative of the city of Sulaymaniyah in the first parliamentary session. In 1993, he received the post of Assistant Minister of Culture of the Kurdistan Regional Government. At the same time, he became a member of the Kurdistan Artists Association with that responsibility. In 1999, he became the President of the Kurdistan Artists Association. At the same time, he was a speech teacher at the College of Fine Arts of Salaheddin University in Erbil. The Kurdistan Artists Association published a magazine called Şakar and Ehmed Salar was the Supervisor of the magazine. He was also the President of the Salar Theater and the Privilege Holder of the Theater Magazine. He was a member of the Kurdish Writers' Union and a member of the Kurdistan Journalists' Union and a member of the Kurdistan Parliamentarians' Union. He visited Germany, Egypt, Iran and Sweden to participate in international seminars on the field of theater and cinema. Some of his plays have been translated into English, Arabic, Persian, and Greek. His plays have been performed in several countries and he is a member of the World Peace Organization.
Ahmed Salar has received several domestic, Iraqi and international awards for his activities in the field of theater and drama. In 1961, he won the Zahrafe Award at the Iraqi level, in 1972, the Baban Gold Medal for Best Kurdish Actor, in 1977 he won the Best Director Award at the First Iraqi University Theater Festival, in 1984 he won the Iraqi Theater Exhibition Medal, in 1978 he won the Iraqi University Honorary Award, the Gold Medal for the 70th Anniversary of the Sulaymaniyah City Theater, the Shield of Honor of the Iraqi Artists Union, the World Peace Award from the Kurdistan Peace Organization, and several other honorary awards and medals. Several honorary seminars have been organized for him and his theatrical history as an artist has been honored.
On August 28, 2012, for his services to theater and drama and other fields, he was awarded the Order of Merit by the President. Masoud Barzani He has received the Barzani Medal.

Ehmed Salar has written more than 36 plays and published 40 books, 24 of which are about theater. He has performed hundreds of theatrical works and has participated in several drama and cinema works as a writer, actor and director. He has 32 theatrical directing works and 19 theatrical productions, as well as 17 television drama works, 8 cinema works and 4 radio dramas consisting of 30 to 60 episodes. In total, his theatrical and artistic works consist of 200 works.
