In 1967, he contacted the Peshmerga forces of the September Revolution and became a Peshmerga in the Balek region. He continued his Peshmerga duties there until 1970. In 1970, he was in the Balek District Council with Muhammad Amin Reşkê. After the agreement of March 11, 1970, he became a border guard in the Rewandiz area. In 1974, after the start of the war between the government and the Peshmerga forces of the September Revolution, Ahmed Birno returned to the ranks of the Peshmerga of the Karox force, which was commanded by Seyid Selim. He was then transferred to Qasr and became a guard at the Barzani Base in Berde Zard, near the village of Rayat.
In 1976, after the start May Revolution He went to the city of Karaj and met with Idris Barzani. Then, with Arif Ahmed and Muhammad Rawandizi and Mustafa Elyas, he contacted the Peshmerga forces under the command of Generals Yunis Rojbayani and Hamid Effendi in the Sidekan area. He met with Hamid Effendi at the Geliye Gosta base behind the Berazgir plain in the Sidekan district of Erbil province. Then, their base was transferred to Berkim in the Sidekan area.
In 1991, after the uprising of the people of Southern Kurdistan, Ahmed Birno was in the Sidekan area. Then, with Hamid Effendi and Nihad Barzani, he moved his base to the Peyman district in Pirmam. From there, he was transferred to the 43rd Helgurd Command Unit in Soran.
Ahmed Birno participated in several battles during his Peshmerga life. Such as the Battle of Korek, the Battle of Serchiya, the Battle of Mount Piran, the Battle of Sidekan, and the 1988 Battle of Xwakurk, and was wounded once. On May 28, 2013, he was awarded the Barzani Medal by President Barzani. He passed away on August 3, 2019 due to illness and was buried in the Diyana cemetery.
