Biography
Arif Tayfur Born in 1945 in the city of Sulaymaniyah, he completed his secondary education in Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah and received his Bachelor of Laws from Baghdad University in 1967. In 2004, he was appointed a member of the Iraqi Interim National Council (Al Meclis Al Watani Al Miweqit Al Iraqi) and in 2005, he was a candidate for the Kurdistan Alliance list for the Iraqi National Council and after graduating, he became the Second Deputy Chairman of the Iraqi National Council. He is fluent in Kurdish, Arabic, English and Persian.

In 1975, after the defeat of the September Revolution, he lived as a refugee in Iran, where he was welcomed by President Masoud Barzani for preparation May Revolution In 1976, he became a member of the provisional leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (Berlin Conference) and after the martyrdom of Mulazim Seyid Karim, he took a leading position and became a member of the political school.

In 2015, he became the commander of the Kurdistan Peshmerga force on the Khazir (Dohok) front against ISIS forces.
