In 1975, after the defeat of the September Revolution, he first went to Nakhchivan and then moved to Tehran and settled there. In 1977, he became the Deputy of the Martyr Ahmed Adem Organization in the Amed District Council of the First Region. In 1979, after Barzani passed away, he became a member of the Amed District Council and swore that he would not shave his head or beard until the day of his martyrdom or the liberation of Kurdistan. He kept his oath and did not shave his head or beard until 1991, when the great uprising of Southern Kurdistan was carried out.
During the extensive Anfal operation and the chemical attack on the Behdinan district in 1988, Khalil Amin went to Northern Kurdistan with a large number of Peshmerga and the people of the region. There, they were transferred to a refugee camp and settlement in the city of Mus. He returned to Southern Kurdistan in 1992 and continues to work and serve in the Barzan Command.
Khalil Amin has participated in several battles and epics. Some of them are the epic of Kani Mas, the epic of Fawja Sotik and Bamarne in the province of Duhok. He was wounded five times in his life as a Peshmerga. He was awarded the Barzani Medal by President Barzani at the 13th congress in 2010.
