Biography

Dr. Viyan Sabri was born in Baghdad in 1965. She received her medical degree from Salaheddine University in 1989 and was established as a physician in the city of Acre in the same year. She received her advanced diploma in obstetrics and gynecology from Duhok University in 2006 and received her medical degree from the Kurdistan Medical Association in 2014. She is fluent in Kurdish, Arabic and English.

Dr. Viyan Sabri joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in 1992, and in 1994 she became the Akre branch manager of the Kurdistan Women's Union, and in 2005 she became a branch member of the Duhok branch board. In 2010, at the 13th congress, she became a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's leadership council and became the deputy head of the electoral department.

In 2018, she became a member of the Iraqi Council of Representatives on the Kurdistan Democratic Party list in Duhok province, and at the end of the same year, she was appointed as the Head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Faction in the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
