Biography

Serbest Lezgin was born in 1965 in the city of Duhok. He received his bachelor's degree in law from the University of Duhok in 2008. He was appointed as the Assistant to the Ministry of Peshmerga in the eighth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government in 2017. He is fluent in Kurdish, Turkish, and Persian.

In 2014, he was the commander of the Shingal axis on the border of Mosul province in the fight against ISIS forces and was wounded several times during his Peshmerga service. In 2017, he was appointed as the Assistant to the Peshmerga Ministry in the eighth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
