Sadiq Hashim Aziz

Sadiq Hashim Aziz, also known as Sadiq Hashim Marozî, was a Peshmerga fighter during the May Revolution and was martyred in 1987.


Martyr Sadiq Hashim Aziz was born in 1966 in the village of Mêroz, in the Mêrgesor district of Erbil province. He was 6 months old when his father, Hashim Aziz Mêrozi, was martyred on Mount Etruş.

 

In 1975, after the defeat of the September Revolution, he and his family emigrated to Turkey. After staying in Turkey for a while, they moved to Iran and settled in the Zewe camp.

 

In 1983, he returned to the Rizgar district, an area that had been opened to the revolution, and contacted the Peshmerga forces of the May Revolution. He became a Peshmerga under Commander Ahmed Meroz, his uncle, and participated in several battles and actions in the area. He went to the Mizuri area to carry out a Peshmerga action and was martyred on June 23, 1987, due to the bombing of the Ba'ath regime's warplanes in the village of Meroz.
