Ma'ruf Qadir Ali, known as Ma'ruf Chomani, was born in 1956 in the village of Chomani Suweyl Axa in the Similan district of Chomana district, Erbil province.
In 1975, after the defeat of the September Revolution, he emigrated to Iran and settled in the Bahram camp. In 1976, he emigrated to Southern Iraq. After two years in Southern Iraq, he returned to his ancestral lands, and in 1985, he was transferred to the Qushtepe forced settlement in Erbil province. In 1988, he returned to the Diyana camp.
In 1973, at the age of 15, he joined the Peshmerga forces of the September Revolution and became a Peshmerga along with Jalil Sherkawayi. In 1991, he participated in the beginning of the Kurdistan People's Uprising in the city of Soran and played a high role. In 1992, after the formation of the Kurdistan Army, he joined the 9th battalion of the Goshin Brigade in the area. Najmedin Goroni He is called a Peshmerga. In 1997, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commander of the 1st Battalion in the 72nd Brigade of the Balek army.
Martyr Ma'ruf Çomani participated in several battles to defend the law and sovereignty of Kurdistan, such as the battles of Qasr, Hacî Omaran, Berdebük, Aşê Xidir Axa, Gerwebêş, Lolan, Xinere, and Mount Hesarost.
On the night of 29-30 August 1998, he was martyred along with three of his comrades in a battle with PKK militants in the Gocar district of Rebaye Fatan on the Dilman road. After his martyrdom, his body was cremated and buried.
