Martyr Omer Karim Fetah Qadir was born in 1947 in the village of Hesen Awa in the province of Halabja. He grew up in the countryside and was engaged in farming and studied until the primary stage.
In 1963, he joined the Peshmerga along the main route of Abdul Baghdadi, who was headed by the Newroli organization, and at that time, was commanded by Faraj Haji Mahmud, who also led the Xebat battalion of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
In 1963, Omar Karim Fatah, along with martyr Hema Gulpi and a group of his comrades, returned to the village of Hesen Awa to take a short rest and provide for their needs. However, they were exposed and a large force of the then Iraqi regime surrounded the village. After a fight and confrontation, Hema Gulpi and several of his comrades managed to free themselves, and Omar Karim Fatah and three of his comrades named Kerim Fatah Qadir, Hacî Kerim, and Salih Mihemed Elî were arrested and shot at the village entrance and martyred.
