Martyr Omar Ali Tahir was born in 1965 in the village of Beleban, located on the Shelxe plain in the Koye district of Erbil province. He was a farmer and engaged in the business of raising cattle. Omar Ali was a farmer and his family name is Gewher Hemed Salih and he has one daughter named Shahida. Due to the destruction of their villages and the forced relocation of their people by the Ba'ath regime in 1987, Omar Ali migrated to the city of Erbil and settled in the Bineslawe neighborhood.
Martyr Omar Ali became a Peshmerga in the Seyyed Qadir battalion, which led the Hewler Plain force, during the 1991 uprising of the Kurdistan people against the Ba'ath regime.
Omar Tahir participated in the liberation of the Koyê and Koyê Plain districts, Shaqlawe district, Korê district, Erbil province, during the 1991 Kurdish uprising.
On March 11, 1991, during the liberation of Erbil province, Omar Tahir was shot and killed near the provincial headquarters.
