Martyr Mustafa Xerib was born in 1942 in the village of Balekiyan in the town of Diyana in the province of Erbil. He grew up in a village and was engaged in farming. He was illiterate and lived a married life.
In 1974, he joined the Eylül Revolution and became a Peshmerga in the Hamid Effendi battalion under the Balek force. He participated in the battles of Gorez, Sertiz, Gerwe, and the Eli Beg Valley. On April 16, 1974, during an attack on the Iraqi regime army, he was martyred in the Eli Beg Valley with his brother, Sheikh Xerib Sheikh, who was also a Peshmerga.
