An academic and politician, Dr. Hamid Ehmed Hamid, known as Dr. Hamid Derbendi, joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in 1972. He was a delegate to the ninth congresses of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in 1979, the eleventh in 1993, and the twelfth in 1999, and was elected as a member of the Leadership Council of the Kurdistan Democratic Party at the thirteenth congress in 2010.
Biography
Dr. Hamid Derbandi was born in Erbil in 1956. In 1985, he went to the Czech Republic for studies and in 1998, he received a doctorate in international economic relations from the University of Prague. In 2005, he became the head of the public relations department of the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region. He is fluent in Kurdish, Persian, Arabic, Czech, Swedish and English.

In 1972, he joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and in 1974, he became the Deputy Head of the Balek District Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Youth Union in Hewler. In the years (1975-1985) after the defeat of the September Revolution, he emigrated to Iran and in 1985, he went to the Czech Republic to study.
