Martyr Hemed Ismail Mirad was born in 1949 in the village of Serdre in Dola Xaneqa, in the Rewandiz district of Erbil province. He grew up in the countryside and was engaged in farming, was not educated, and his married life was not fulfilling.
In 1966, he joined the Peshmerga forces and became a Peshmerga in the 4th battalion of the Balek force. He participated in the battles of Hinduran and Korek and the Rawandiz area. In 1975, the village of Serdre in Dola Khaneqa was bombed by Iraqi regime warplanes.
