Bestun Hussein Muhammad Mahmud

Bestun Hisên Mihemed Mahmud was born in 1961 in the village of Bawe Koçekî in the province of Halabja. He grew up in the countryside and is engaged in farming. He graduated from primary school.

 

In 1976, he became a Peshmerga in the Hewraman force of the Kurdistan Democratic Party under the command of Nadir Hewraami. At that time, their base was in Wishkanawi, near Serchawey Zelm in Halabja province.

 

In 1978, Bestun Hisen and two of his comrades named Emin Hisen and Tahsin went to the Sharezur plain to carry out a partisan action. In the village of Sheshki in the Xurmal district, they were ambushed by the Ba'ath regime forces and after a fight and confrontation, they were captured. After being captured, they were transferred to the prison in the city of Mosul. After a year in prison, they were hanged and martyred in 1979.
