Martyr Selim Sheikh Ibrahim Qadir was born in 1950 in the Kivestans (forests) of Mezra-Stirok, near the town of Sidekan in the province of Erbil. He grew up in a village and was engaged in animal husbandry.
In 1971, he joined the September Revolution and became a Peshmerga in the Muhyeddin Sheikhzadeh Battalion, which was then under the control of the Barzan force. In 1975, he emigrated to Iran and in 1986, he was ambushed by Ba'ath regime prisoners in the village of Xelifan in the Herti Plain, in the Sîdekan district, and was martyred after a fierce battle.
