In 1988, after the Anfal campaign against the people of South Kurdistan and Badinan region, he was displaced to Turkey and settled in a camp in Amed, North Kurdistan. After a while, he fled the camp and returned to East Kurdistan. On March 13, 1991, he returned to South Kurdistan with a Peshmerga detachment via Haji Omeran to participate in the uprising of the people of South Kurdistan against the Ba'ath regime. In 1992, he was appointed as the commander of the Surdash force in Zakho. In 1993, he was promoted to the rank of battalion commander in the Kurdistan Army. In 2003, he was promoted to the rank of operational commander in the Fourth Army.
