The Battle of Baroshke was another action of the Peshmerga forces against the security agencies of the Ba'ath regime. A Peshmerga force of the Duhok Regional Committee under the command of Mohammed Murad set up an ambush in Duhok city They soon seized them and burned both vehicles. A number of policemen were killed and others were taken hostage and their weapons were confiscated. Then the Peshmerga forces were able to leave the city safely and return to the headquarters.
After the outbreak of the May Revolution, the Peshmerga forces gradually infiltrated the cities and villages on the orders of the revolutionary leadership. The Peshmerga forces established bases and headquarters in many areas The Peshmerga guerrillas attacked the Ba'athist forces and caused heavy damage. An important part of the strategy of these activities was a message to the Ba'ath regime that the Kurdish revolution continues and will not give up its legitimate rights The roads and the places through which these forces passed to fight the Peshmerga and carry out military duties, the Peshmerga forces were able to deal a major blow to the military and security forces in this way.
During the revolution, the Peshmerga forces were divided into branches, regions and organizations. A Peshmerga force of about 20 people belonging to the Duhok Regional Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) under the leadership of Mohammed Murad The Peshmerga forces then climbed to the top of Sina village and then moved back down into Duhok city near the public garage of Baroshke neighborhood. The Peshmerga forces were divided into three groups. One group went to a hill to guard the road back, another group went to the Baroshke police station to monitor the police force, and the third group was stationed in the place designated for ambush.
The Peshmerga forces remained in the city until around 9 pm, when two vehicles of the city police force were ambushed, the Peshmerga immediately confronted them and opened fire from all sides An officer named Salah, then seized their weapons, which included 10 pistols, an RPG and some other military equipment.
After the action, the entire Peshmerga force was safe and unharmed, then with a successful plan decided to leave the city, withdraw to Itute village and crossed the main road in Bare Bahare village and went to the headquarters of the Duhok Regional Committee He recruited him into the ranks of the Ba'ath government's security and military agencies in the region, especially in Duhok, because the government did not believe that the Peshmerga could carry out such an operation in Duhok.
