The martyr Aziz Tawfiq Abdul Qadir was a Peshmerga of the September and Gulan revolutions. During his struggle in the ranks of the Peshmerga, he held several positions, including platoon commander, company commander, military officer in the regiment, and regiment commander. He was arrested in 1982 after being wounded in the Taghuzi area during clashes with the Ba'athist regime soldiers, and he was martyred after being shot by the soldiers.
Martyr Aziz Tawfiq Abdulqadir was born in the village of Barween, in the Bamo district of Halabja Governorate, in 1946. He was a villager who practiced agriculture and completed his primary education. He was married to Atiya Fattah and they had six sons (Arkan, Arslan, Saman, Sarkawt, Tharwat, and Sartib).
He joined the Peshmerga forces in the Tawila platoon of the Khabat Regiment of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, when Qadir Hama Saleh Tagouzi was the platoon commander. He participated in many battles, including: the Battle of Sartiz, the Battle of Bamo, the Battle of Zamnako, the Battle of Galala, the Battle of Haji Omran, the Battle of Kalar, the Battle of Hendrin, the Battle of Darbandikhan, and the Battle of Halabja.
In 1968, he assumed the position of platoon commander in the Fourth Company of the Sixth Regiment within the Khabat Forces. In 1972, he became an official in the military section of the Sixth Regiment (BMO) within the Khabat Forces. He did not leave the ranks of the Peshmerga after the September setback, but continued the struggle with his Peshmerga comrades in the Tagouzi Company. He became the company commander in the Tagouzi Regiment in 1978, when Qadir Hama Saleh was the regiment commander. In 1982, he became the regiment commander of the Sirwan Forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and Jalal Lawrani was the commander of the forces.
On September 10, 1982, when Aziz Tawfiq Abdul Qadir and a detachment of his Peshmerga comrades were returning from a combat operation inside the city of Halabja, they were besieged in the village of Gorga Chia in the Tagozzi area of Halabja Governorate by a large mercenary force of Jash and soldiers of the Ba'athist regime. The Peshmerga resisted them for several hours, but due to the overwhelming force of the soldiers and Jash, Aziz Tawfiq Abdul Qadir, his Peshmerga comrade, and his nephew (Khaled Azm Tawfiq) were arrested after being wounded. On the orders of the Iraqi General Intelligence, they were shot and martyred at the Gorga Chia gate.
