1970 - First Congress of Kurdistan Women's Union - Baghdad

The first congress of the Kurdistan Women's Union was held on September 25, 1970 in Baghdad, Iraq.


The March 11, 1970 agreement provided an opportunity for the activities of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) mass organizations. Because of this opportunity, the Kurdistan Women's Union became a member of the Iraqi General Union of Women as an independent entity. In order to organize its activities in the new circumstances, the Kurdistan Women's Union, like all other mass and professional organizations, needed to hold a congress.

The Preparatory Committee of the First Congress set September 25, 1970 for the first Congress, which was held at the headquarters of the Fifth Branch Kurdistan Democratic Party The meeting was held in Baghdad, where a leadership consisted of twelve people, so that one three representatives were appointed for each of Baghdad, Kirkuk and Sulaimani, and for each of the administrative agencies of Baghdad, Khanaqin, Kirkuk and Sulaimani Nine members and three reserves were elected. However, due to the absence of their representatives, no one was elected in Erbil and Duhok and it was decided to appoint a management agency for them later. Zakia Ismail Haqi was elected as the secretary and lawyer Fawzia Murad as the deputy secretary. 1. This conference was held in Baghdad.

The Executive Committee consisted of the following:

3. Anjum Abdullah Mohammed, also known as Anjum Zuhdi

4- Narmin Osman Hassan

5- Sabria Ahmad Qadir, known as Sabria Mam Ahmad.

3- Munira Qazaz - Secretary of the Fund

4- Payman Jiawk - Secretary General

5- Fakhriya Sa'dullah - Member

6- Hasiba Qazaz - Member

7- Suad Ahmad Makki - Member

8- Bahija Mohammed Ali Qazi - Member

9- Zakia Ali- Member

10- Pakiza Jalal- Member

11- Nazanin Fakhri- Member

12- Qumriya Mohammed Abdullah - Member

13- Sarwa Osman Saeed- Member
