Comrade Aziz Mohammed came to Erbil with his mother at a very young age. He learned to read the Qur'an in Abu Bakr Mosque and studied jurisprudence in Pirzin, Shaweis and Bahrka, but later he stopped studying jurisprudence. . . .
His mother sent him to school and because of his intelligence he was placed in the third grade of primary school. After completing primary school, he thought about completing his studies in an industrial institute or teacher training institute. After leaving school, he remained unemployed for a while, then, with the help of several friends, was employed in the Food and Local Distribution Office, where he worked for three years. . . .
In the spring of 1948, he joined the Communist Party. . . . The years 1940-1941 were the beginning of his political activities, which at the same time encouraged a group of young people to enter political life, including the famous Kurdish teacher Ezadin Faizi. . . .
At the same time, he joined the Hiwa Society and in May 1941 became a member of the Hiwa Society. . . . In 1942, he became a member of the People's Association, which published a newspaper called Blesa and considered itself Marxist. . . .
In the winter of 1945, he became a member of the Iraqi Communist Party after its first congress. . . . He was imprisoned on October 13, 1948, and spent 10 years in prison until August. . . .
During his years in prison, he learned Arabic through reading and read several literary books, stories, novels and political books, as well as many masterpieces of Russian, English and German literature, as well as the works of Taha Hussein and Najib Mahfouz. . . .
From 1964 to 1993, Aziz Mohammed was the Secretary General of the Iraqi Communist Party. . . .
Aziz Mohammed was awarded the Lenin Medal by the Soviet Communist Party in 1986 and the Star of Growth of Asia and Africa in 2007 by Russia, becoming the second person after Nelson Mandela to receive the medal. . . .
On June 10, 2015 in Pirmam by the President Massoud Barzani He was awarded the Barzani Medal.
He passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at his home.
