Martyr Qadir Abdulkarim Almas, known as Qala Maynjan, was a Peshmerga of the September Revolution and one of the first Peshmerga of the Hawraman Division. He was martyred in 1963 in Ain Wazniya in the Hawraman region after the Peshmerga's defensive positions were subjected to artillery shelling.
The martyr Qadir Abdulkarim Almas, known as Qala Maynjan, was born in the village of Nusu in eastern Kurdistan in 1913. In his youth, he moved to the Hawraman region and settled in the village of Balkha, which belongs to the Biara district in Halabja Governorate, where he worked in various trades. He was married to Qatan Murad, and they had three sons and two daughters. His son, Reza Qadir, was martyred in 1969 during the September Revolution, and his two daughters, Sa'da and Tuba, were martyred as a result of the chemical bombing of the city of Halabja.
In 1961, he joined the ranks of the Peshmerga of the Hawraman Division. He was one of the first Peshmerga of the Hawraman Division in the September Revolution, as the Hawraman Division became the first armed division in the region to join the revolution and was affiliated with the Khabat Regiment of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
In 1963, Qadir Abdul Karim and two of his Peshmerga comrades (Qala Sur and Ghafur Ahmed) were wounded when their positions were shelled by the Iraqi army, but Qadir Abdul Karim died from his severe injuries.
