The martyr Ghafour Mohammed Saleh, known as (Ghafour Gala Chali), was a Peshmerga of the Gulan Revolution. In 1983, he and two of his fellow Peshmerga were ambushed by the Ba'athist regime's militias in the Tagouzi area. Ghafour Gala Chali was captured wounded by the militia leader, who killed him with his own hands, decapitating him and then selling his head to the Ba'athist regime for a price.
The martyr Ghafour Mohammed Saleh, known as (Ghafour Gala Chali), was born in the village of Gala Chali, which belongs to the Bamo district in Halabja Governorate, in 1955. He was a merchant in the markets of the Zarain district and one of its residents.
In 1982, he joined the Sirwan Forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, led by Jalal Lawrani. On May 3, 1983, he and two of his Peshmerga comrades (Sulaiman Abdulrahman Tagouzi and Faiq Ali Ghafour) were ambushed by the pro-Ba'athist militias of Qalkhani near the village of Hokan in the Tagouzi area of Halabja. After clashes between the two sides, Faiq Ali was killed, and Ghafour Muhammad (Ghafour Gala Chali) was wounded after being shot in the leg and arrested by the militias. The militia leader then beheaded him, sent his head to his family, and sold his head to the Ba'athist regime. His wounded comrade Sulaiman was also handed over to the Ba'athist regime soldiers and died after spending a year and three months in prison.
