Martyr Omar Karim Qadir, known as (Martyr Shamal), a graduate of intermediate school, was a Peshmerga of the Gulan Revolution. He was martyred in 1983 after falling into an ambush set up for him by the Jalaliyyun near the Sirwan River.
The martyr Omar Karim Qadir, known as (Martyr Shamal), was born in Darbandikhan district in Sulaymaniyah Governorate in 1965. He was a resident of Darbandikhan district and completed his primary and intermediate education in this district.
He joined the Peshmerga forces of the Tagozin Regiment, which belonged to the Sirwan Forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, where Aziz Hama Saleh Tagozin was the regiment commander at the time, and Jalal Lawrani was the commander of the Sirwan Forces.
In 1983, Omar Karim and his fellow Peshmerga fighters were ambushed by the Yekiti forces in the village of Jardasna, in the Sharazur district near the Sirwan River. After clashes between the two sides, Omar Karim was killed by a gunshot wound.
