Ahmadawa is a beautiful touristic area located in Zalm Valley, which belongs to Khurmala sub-district in Halabja province, 84 km east of Sulaimani[1]. During the Gulan Revolution, this area witnessed many epic battles and attacks by the Peshmerga who attacked military bases of the Iraqi government forces, as a result they have inflicted deadly blows on them and whispered to them the message of the vitality of the revolution and the defense of the Kurdish people's right to freedom and the implementation of democracy([2]).

On July 1, 1987, the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces set up a plan to attack several Iraqi army and government armed forces positions, with the aim of carrying out a major partisan operation in Ahmadawa and Hanay Qol. After they made alle the preparations for the operation, they were able to capture a regiment of mercenaries of the national army in the area, and in a record time  they were able to seize a regiment of mercinaries of (jash), and a regiment of the Iraqi army and the secret headquarters of the national army (Jaish al-Shaabi) in the area([3]).

In this attack, the Iraqi government forces suffered heavy losses, including hundreds of dead and wounded, in addition to about 220 soldiers and fighters of the government forces were taken prisoner. The revolutions loot in this epic battle was a large sum of heavy military weapons which was 1000 of various pieces of weapons. It is worth mentioning that the area was in the hands of the Peshmerga for two days and then retreated and left the place. After a deadly blow to the Iraqi government forces in this battle, the Peshmerga forces were also not unharmed, but seven peshmarga were martyred by the names of Sheikh Kamil Friasi, Gharib Dola Soori, Ali Mullah, Kawa Darbandi, Qadir Jabar and Hassan Marf).
