Sayda Salih Barwari

Salih Abdulkhaliq Rashid, who is also recognized as Sayda Salih Barwari, enlisted in the Peshmerga forces in 1962. The following year, he assumed the role of commander for the artillery battalion within the inaugural division of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). In 1989, he was elected as a reserve member of the central committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).


Biography

Salih Abdulkhaliq Rashid, who was also recognized as Sayda Salih Barwari, was born in 1931 in the province of Duhok. Following his passing on March 15, 1992, he was laid to rest in the Shakhke cemetery located in the city of Duhok in Kurdistan. In 1993, he was posthumously honored as a martyr by the resolutions of The 11th Congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). Salih Abdulkhaliq Rashid possessed a high level of proficiency in Kurdish, Arabic, and Persian languages.


Service Record

In 1959, he served in the Iraqi army as an Arif rank officer. Three years later, he joined the Peshmerga forces. By 1963, he had been appointed as the commander of the artillery battalion within the first branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In the winter of 1967, he completed a command and battalion command course abroad. In 1970, he became a member of the Amedi Regional Committee of the First Branch Committee. Tragically, his brother Ali Abdulkhaliq, who served as a Peshmerga in Duhok province, was martyred by the Iraqi army in 1974. That same year, he was appointed as the commander of the Support Force (Isnad). Following the collapse of the September Revolution in 1975, he was displaced to Iran. In 1976, he joined the interim leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) as part of the Peshmerga forces. During this time, he assumed the role of head of the committee of the Amedi region within the first branch committee. In 1979, he served as a delegate to the 9th Congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Razhani village of East Kurdistan and was appointed as a member of the branch committee. In 1980, he became a member of the 12th staff of the 12th branch under the leadership of Dr. Jarjis Hassan Abdullah, while also holding the responsibility of the Amed Regional Committee. In the same year, he participated in the battle of Blmbazi in Duhok province alongside the forces of the Iraqi Communist Party and was wounded due to Iraqi army bombardment. He also took part in the battle of Bikufa against the Iraqi army in Duhok province, where he sustained injuries from the Iraqi army's bombing. By 1983, he had been appointed as the military head of the first branch committee. In 1985, during the tenure of Najmaddin Saeed Ali (1941-2018), also known as Najmaddin Yousfida shan, he was appointed as the administrator of the first branch committee. In 1987, he assumed the role of executive for the fourth branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). In the subsequent year, he played a proactive role in the Khawkurk conflict, engaging the Iraqi army and its tribal factions in Erbil province. Unfortunately, he sustained injuries during the battle. In 1989, he garnered election as a reserve member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) during the 10th Congress. In 1991, he was entrusted with the position of administrator for the first committee, a responsibility he had previously held under the guidance of Fazel Mirani. Additionally, during the Kurdistan Uprising in the same year, he was appointed as the military commander of the first branch committee.
