Ghafoor Mohammed Salih Mohammed

Ghafoor Mohammed Salih, a martyr known as Ghafoor Glajali was a Peshmerga of the May Revolution. In 1983, he and two comrades were ambushed by mercenaries, pro-Ba’ath regime Kurds in the Tagozi region and was wounded and beheaded by the mercenaries' chief, who sold his head to the Ba'ath regime for a sum of money.


Ghafoor Mohammed Salih, a martyr known as Ghafoor Glajali was born in 1955 in Glajali village of Bamo district of Halabja province. He was a resident of Zarayn village and was engaged in personal business in Zarayn market.

In 1982, he became Peshmarga and joined the Sirwan force of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) under the command of Jalal Lawrani. On May 3, 1983, he and two comrades named Sulaiman Abdulrahman Tagozi and Fayeq Ali Ghafoor, near Hokani village of Tagozi region of Halabja, were ambushed by Qalkhani mercenaries, who were mercenaries of the Ba'ath regime. First, Fayeq Ali was killed in the clashes, while Ghafoor Mohammed (Ghafoor Glajali) was shot in the leg and broke his leg. He was wounded and arrested by the mercenaries and the leader of the mercenaries beheaded and martyred him with his own hands. He sent his body headless to his family and sold his head to the Ba'ath regime. Also, Sleman, one of Ghafoor’s comrades was handed over to the Ba'ath regime's soldiers. After a year and three months in prison, he was shot and martyred.

Jalal Mohammed Ahmad

Martyr Jalal Mohammed Ahmad served as a Peshmerga during the May Revolution. Throughout his Peshmerga career, he encountered two occurrences of injury. In 1982, he was apprehended by the Sulaimani security forces and subsequently executed. Jalal Mohammed Ahmad was born in 1962 in the village of Dula Suri, located in the Nalparez district of Penjwen district. He grew up as a villager and received education up until primary school.
