Biography

Abdulaziz Tayeb Ahmad Mohammed, also known as Abdulaziz Bazaz, was born in 1954 in Duhok. Following the collapse of the September Revolution in 1975, he returned to Duhok and continued his educational pursuits. In 1977, he successfully completed his studies at the teachers' college in Duhok. In 1982, he once again joined the Peshmerga forces. However, due to the devastating Anfal campaign in Badinan in 1988, he was forced to seek refuge in the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is worth noting that he possesses remarkable proficiency in both Kurdish and Arabic languages.

Service Record

In 1970, he became a member of the Kurdistan Students Union (KSU), and in the same year, he also joined the Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK). The following year, in 1971, he held membership in the Nineveh branch of the Kurdistan Students Union. Additionally, in 1971, he assumed the responsibility of overseeing the Kurdistan Students Union (KSU) activities at Ashti Central School in Duhok. After the seventh congress in 1972, he was appointed as the administrator of the Duhok branch of the Kurdistan Students Union. Furthermore, in 1973, he was entrusted with organizing the Kurdistan Students Union at Duhok High School and served as the head of the Duhok Regional Committee of the Kurdistan Students Union. In 1973, he served as a member of the Hevi Organization Committee within the Duhok Regional Committee of the First Branch Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. During the same year, he also became a member of the Duhok branch of the Kurdistan Students Union. In 1974, he authored an article for Al-Mashal Al-Wadha magazine, which was the official publication of the Duhok-Nineveh branch of the Kurdistan Students Union. Additionally, he joined the esteemed ranks of the Peshmerga forces in the same year. Furthermore, he was appointed as the administrator of the Duhok-Nineveh branch of the Kurdistan Students Union in 1974. In 1985, he assumed the role of administrator for the committee overseeing the initial branch of the Amedi region. In 1987, he was appointed as the administrator for the committee overseeing the first branch of the fourteenth staff, during the tenure of Dr. Roj Nuri Shaweis. In 1988, he continued his service within the fifteenth staff of the first branch committee, under the leadership of Engineer Ramzi Shaban. During the same year, he also served as a member of the Preparatory Committee for the 10th Congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). In 1989, he was elected as a reserve member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). In 1991, he continued his service within the sixteenth staff of the first branch committee, holding the position of branch administrator under the responsibility of Fazel Mirani. From 1992 to 2000, he assumed the role of governor of Duhok under the Kurdistan Regional Government. In 1993, he secured a position as a member of the central committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) during the 11th Congress. On Wednesday, March 23, 1994, he presided over the Newroz festivities in Duhok as the governor, accompanied by Nechirvan Idris Mustafa, also known as Nechirvan Barzani. Recognizing his leadership, the Governor of Tennessee extended an invitation to him in his capacity as the Governor of Duhok on December 19, 1996. Additionally, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended an invitation to him on February 4, 1996. In 1998, he took ownership of Asoy Parwardayi, a Kurdish publication based in Erbil. Furthermore, in 1999, he was elected as a reserve member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) during the 12th Congress. On 20th December 1999, he took the oath as the Minister of Education (fourth cabinet) in front of the Kurdistan National Assembly. He served as a member of the Higher Education Council and later assumed the role of acting Minister of Higher Education. On Sunday, 23rd December 2000, he welcomed a delegation from the Secretariat of the Kurdistan Students Union (KSU) at the Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government. On Thursday, 21st June 2001, in his capacity as Minister of Education, he, along with Engineer Mohammed Mahmoud Abdul Rahman (1933-2004), also known as Sami Abdul Rahman, received a delegation from the International Socialist Party (IS). In June 2001, while serving as the Minister of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government, he hosted a delegation from the University of Washington, led by Professor Mary Gray. On 10th September 2001, he actively participated in the inauguration of the 3rd Congress of Kurdistan Regional Education in Erbil. On Tuesday, August 7, 2001, he was sworn in as Deputy Minister of Health and Social Affairs before the Prime Minister It was published by the Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Erbil. He took the oath as Deputy Minister of Health and Social Affairs in the presence of the Prime Minister on Tuesday, August 7, 2001. By mid-2003, he assumed ownership of Afaq Tarbuya magazine, which was published by the Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Erbil. In April 2005, he became the proprietor of Asoy Mandalan magazine, published by the Ministry of Education in Erbil. On May 7, 2006, he ascended to the position of Minister of Agriculture in the fifth cabinet. In 2010, he served as a representative at the 13th Congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Erbil.
