Martyr Yusuf Muhammad Ali Sarani, known as (Zana), was born in 1974 in the village of Sarani in the Akoyan valley of the Rawanduz district in Erbil province. He was married and had a daughter. He studied up to the fourth grade of primary school and was martyred in the civil war on February 7, 1995.
In 1991, he joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In the same year, he became a Peshmerga in the Haji Karim Sarani Battalion of the Zozk Force of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's Peshmerga Forces. He participated in several battles imposed on the Party in the Rawanduz and Soran border areas.
He was martyred in the civil war on February 7, 1995.
