Social and political figure, Hoshyar Mahmoud Mohammed Faris, known as Hoshyar Zebari, was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party at the Ninth Conference in 1979, the Tenth Conference in 1989, and the Eleventh Conference in 1993. At the Twelfth Conference in 1999, he was elected as a member of the Leadership Council and then as a member of the Political Bureau of the Party. At the Thirteenth Conference in 2010, he was elected as a member of the Leadership Council and then as a member of the Political Bureau of the Party. He was a candidate of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in 1992 for the first session elections of the National Council. He served as the Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Dr. Ibrahim al-Jaafari in 2005 and the government of Nouri al-Maliki in 2006, and as the Iraqi Minister of Finance in the government of Adel Abdul-Mahdi.

Hoshyar Zebari received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Jordan in 1976, and in 1979 he received a Master of Science degree in Sociology and Development from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom. He is fluent in Kurdish, Arabic, English and Persian.
The pages of struggle
Hoshyar Mahmoud Mohammed Faris joined the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in 1976 and participated in the Gulan Revolution. He was elected to the KDP Central Committee at the Ninth Congress in 1979, the Tenth Congress in 1989, the Eleventh Congress in 1993, and the Twelfth Congress in 1999, subsequently becoming a member of the Political Bureau. At the Thirteenth Congress in 2010, he was elected to the Leadership Council and then to the Political Bureau. At the Fourteenth Congress in 2022, he was elected to the Central Committee, and at the first meeting of the Leadership Council, he was re-elected to the Political Bureau. In 1979, he assumed responsibility for the Sixth Branch Committee – Europe. He taught human rights, political terminology, political economy, political dictionary, Kurdish studies, and international relations at the KDP's Cadre Institute. He was in charge of the foreign relations office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in 1988, and with the aim of condemning the use of chemical weapons against the Kurds in southern Kurdistan, he launched a campaign in the same year to draw the attention of Western countries to this crime.
From 1990 to 2003, he was responsible for foreign relations for the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Europe. In 1992, he participated in the Iraqi National Congress in Vienna. In the same year, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Iraqi National Congress (Salah al-Din Conference) and became a member of the General Assembly and a member of the Executive Committee of the Iraqi National Congress (Vienna Conference). In 1999, he was elected as a member of the Presidency of the Iraqi National Congress (London Meeting).
He was elected to the Iraqi National Assembly in 2005 on the Kurdistan Alliance list. On April 28, 2005, he became Iraq's Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Dr. Ibrahim al-Jaafari. On April 22, 2006, he was reappointed as Iraq's Minister of Foreign Affairs in the first cabinet of Nouri al-Maliki's government. In 2014, he became Iraq's Minister of Finance in the government of Adel Abdul-Mahdi. In 2010, President Masoud Barzani awarded him the Order of the Immortal Barzani during the third congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
