After the success of the 14 July 1958 Revolution, the fall of the monarchy in Iraq, and the issuance of an official work permit by the republican government, the Third Congress of the (Kurdistan Students Union) organization was held openly in the city of Baghdad in 1961.
On January 5, 1987, the Iraq army and mercenary armed forces (Jash) with the support of tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, and warplanes, launched a widespread attack on the Peshmerga forces in the Atrosh, Sheikhan, and surrounding areas. Sheikh Qadir Sayyid Yunis Sayyid Ali Sayyid Ahmadi Brifkani, known as (Dr. Qadir Brifkani), was a physician and one of the prominent figures of the great Aylul Revolution. He was born in 1926 in the village of Brifka in the district of Duhok, which was part of the Mosul Governorate at the time. In 1944, he became a member of the Hiwa Party, and in 1946, he became a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In Year 1962, as a physician, he joined the Aylul Revolution until the collapse of the revolution in 1975.
There is always a belief from within that by dying, being eliminated, or assassinating a leader, a revolution or the cause of a nation might end, but this does not always hold true for every nation. The enemies of the Kurd people had long understood the reality that President Mustafa Barzani was the decision-maker and the center of gravity for the liberation movement of the Kurd people, which is why attempts were made to assassinate him several times.
