The Gulan Revolution - (Progressive May Revolution - May 26, 1976). It was launched by the Kurdistan Democratic Party under the leadership of President Masoud Barzani against the Ba'athist government of Iraq in southern Kurdistan and continued until the 1991 spring uprising.

The Shawana meeting of the Kurdistan Democratic Party – (Shawana Meeting – beginning of July), after the death of president Mustafa Barzani with the purpose of reorganizing the party affairs and making preparations for the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s ninth congress was held in the village of Shawana in the east of Kurdistan.

The 8th Congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) was held in Nawperdan village after the March 11, 1970 agreement

The 10th Congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (Kurdistan Democratic Party January 2, 1989) after the formation of the Kurdistan Front in 1988 and many teritorial and regional developments was held in the village of Heshmawa in eastern Kurdistan.

The second congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (Kurdistan Democratic Party, Iraq, October 4, 1959) was held openly in Baghdad after the return of General Mustafa Barzani and his friends from the Soviet Union and resolving the party's internal problems.
