During the conflict between the Republic's Peshmerga forces and the Iranian army, a significant battle unfolded in the village of Qulta, involving a total of five hundred soldiers. Among them, twenty individuals hailed from the Mahabad force, alongside fighters from Garki, Sardasht, and Suesni. Notably, Mustafa Khoshnaw from the Barzani Forces was also actively engaged in the combat.

On November 21, 1983, the Peshmerga forces of Barzan launched an assault on the Iraqi army bases located in close proximity to the village of Kaniyalnja in the Barzan region. The Battle of Kaniyalnja ensued, resulting in the swift capture of the enemy bases by the Peshmerga forces. The Peshmerga forces faced a significant challenge on January 5, 1987, when the Iraqi army and mercenary forces (jash) launched a large-scale assault in the Atrosh and Sheikhan areas, along with the surrounding regions. Backed by tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, and warplanes, the attackers engaged in a fierce battle that lasted for a duration of 13 to 15 days. The Zakho Regional Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) launched an offensive against the Iraqi government's military forces on the Zakho-Batuf road on February 26, 1988. Following a fierce confrontation, the Peshmerga forces emerged victorious, inflicting significant damage on the Iraqi forces. They managed to neutralize a considerable number of enemy fighters and soldiers; they were able to capture a few hostages as well.

On the 26th of February, 1988, the Peshmerga forces found themselves under attack in the Balisan Valley by the Iraqi army. This assault was launched from the Betwata and Khalifan fronts, marking a significant and large-scale offensive. The Peshmerga forces effectively engaged the Iraqi forces using a well-coordinated military strategy, bolstered by tanks, artillery, guns, and warplanes. Consequently, the government forces suffered a resounding defeat by nightfall.

On the night of July 27th to 28th, 1987, the Peshmerga forces, operating under the two branches of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), launched an attack on an Iraqi army regiment near the village of Basara, situated on the slopes of Mount Kosrat. This battle resulted in significant losses for the Iraqi government forces, with a large number of soldiers being killed, wounded, and taken hostage by the Peshmerga.

In the Battle of Biara, the Peshmerga Forces began fighting and operating in the early months of 1982 in the Biara and Shram areas. They did this by launching a massive attack on the army and government forces' bases, which allowed them to seize control of the area and cause severe damage to the Iraqi army and its possessions.

On May 31, 1982, a momentous occurrence transpired in the Sharazoor region, where the collective Peshmerga forces of diverse Kurdish factions in the Jud Front, namely the PDK, the Socialist Party, and the Communist Party.
