The Peshmerga forces managed to temporarily seize control of the district.

The Occurrence of the Battle

On October 11, 1977, following a meeting of the leadership of the second region of Soran, chaired by Kamal Kirkuk at the house of Bayaz Abdullah in Khurkhura village, a strategic decision was made to launch an attack on Bingrd district by the Peshmerga forces. To execute this plan effectively, the forces were divided into several smaller detachments, including the detachment led by Haji Faqe Ismail, comprising Peshmergas from the Jaf area, alongside the detachments of Salih Mullah Ahmad, Haji Sheikh Hussein Loter, and Haji Mohammed Sufiani, as well as a contingent of Peshmergas from Galala Shinkayat. On the same night, December 11, the Peshmerga units launched their assault on Bingrd district, swiftly capturing the police headquarters and the Ba'ath Party base. By the end of the night, the district was entirely under Peshmerga control, showcasing their skill and determination. However, after securing a significant victory, the Peshmerga forces strategically withdrew and evacuated the district the following morning. During the attack, three valiant Peshmergas - Kuekha Pirot, Hama Soor Haji Rasul, and Hama Kaka Soor - sustained injuries, embodying the courage and resilience for which the Peshmerga are renowned.
