Azim Abdulkarim Mohammed, a martyr known as Azim Darwish, was born in 1949 in Zareni village of Tagozi region of Halabja province. He was a rural resident and engaged in farming. He was married to Katan Mohammed Ali and had one son named Kosar.
In 1979, he became a Peshmerga in the Tagozi Battalion commanded by Qadir Hamasaleh Tagozi and participated in several battles including the Battle of Zozk, the Battle of Khawkurk, the Battle of Halabja, the Battle of Zmnako, the Battle of Karadagh, and partisan activities in the Sharazoor plain. In 1981, he was shot in the right knee during a partisan activity in the Sharazoor plain and he was seriously injured.
In 1991, he participated in the Kurdistan people's uprising in the liberation of Halabja, Said Sadiq, Arbat, Zarayn, Darbandikhan, Sulaimani, Kirkuk, Kalar, and Bawanur. In 1991, in Sheikh Baway village of Khanaqin district, they were ambushed by the Mujahideen-e-Khalq forces and Azim Abdulkarim and several of his comrades were martyred. He is one of the martyrs whose grave is unknown.
