Azad Barwari

Politician Azad Muhammed Najib Muhammed Salim, known as (Azad Barwari and Saeed), joined the Kurdistan Students Union in 1961 and in 1964 he joined the Ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

In the ninth congress (1979), he was elected as a member of the Central Committee, at the Tenth Congress (1989) as a standby member of the central committee, in eleventh congress (1993) and the twelfth congress (1999) he was elected as a member of the Central Committee and then a member of the political bureau, and in 2010, in the thirteenth congress he was elected as a member of the leadership Council and then a member of the political bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In 2009, in the sixth cabinet he was vice president of the council of ministers of the Kurdistan Regional Government. He is the bearer of Barzani's medal.


Biography 

In 1945, his family was displaced to eastern Kurdistan after the fail of the Second Revolution of Barzan. Azad Barwari was born in Mahabad city in 1946, and after the collapse of Democratic Republic of Kurdistan he returned to Southern Kurdistan with his family in 1947. He has completed high school in Erbil. In 1966, he was accepted at the chemistry department of college of science of Mosul University and was forced by the Iraqi government officers to move to Basra University in southern Iraq because of his political activities. In 1972 he received a bachelor degree from Basra University. In 2009, in the sixth cabinet he was vice president of the council of ministers of the Kurdistan Regional Government. He knows Kurdish, Arabic, Persian، English and German.


Memoir of struggle 

Azad Barwari in 1961 has joined the ranks of Kurdish Student Union and in 1964 he joined the ranks of Kurdistan Democratic Party. He was imprisoned in Ramadi prison in western Iraq in 1968 and released in 1970 after the March 11th agreement between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Iraqi government. In 1972, he joined the Ranks of the September Revolution Peshmerga forces and in 1975 after the fail of the September revolution he returned to Iran as a refugee.

In 1975, he was assigned by Masoud Barzani for the preparation of the Gulan Revolution, and in the same year he was invited by President Masoud Barzani with four other personalities to participate in the first interim leadership meeting of the Kurdistan Democratic Party for the purpose of continuation of defending and resisting.

In 1976, in Berlin conference he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In 1977, he participated in a wide-range meeting of (Beedwali) of the interim Leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party to organize the Peshmerga forces and recommence the organizations. In 1979 he was a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's interim leadership self-organizing committee among refugees of Southern Kurdistan in Iran.

In 2022, in the fourteenth congress he was elected as a member of the Central Committee and in the first meeting of the leadership committee he was elected as a member of the Political bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

During his time working in the Kurdistan Democratic Party ranks, he has taken on many duties and responsibilities, including the head of the Third and Fourth Branches Committee (1980), the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Relations office in Syria (1981), the head of Regional and National Relations Office of the Party (1993), the Administrator of the Political bureau, and the Head of the Central Organizing office (1996), and the Head of the Central Office of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Media (2001) and ... etc.

In 2009, in the sixth cabinet he was vice president of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s council of ministers.

In 2010 he was awarded the legendary Barzani Medal by President Masoud Barzani for his service in the September Revolution, the Gulan Revolution, the uprising phase in Southern Kurdistan and the phase of sovereignty.

Masoud Mustafa Kaka Hama Hussein, known as Masoud Sallayi, joined the Party ranks in 1964; in 1974 he became the administrator of the Khabat Region branch Committee, which included the General Directorates of the September Revolution.
