Martyr Umar Salih Khaland was born in 1971 in the village of Baninan, affiliated with the Daratu sub-district in the Bardarash district, Mosul Governorate. He studied up to primary school level and was married.
In the Year 1991, he joined the organizations of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In 1996, he became a Head of Branch in the Sidakan Army. He participated in the wars of defending the rule of law in the Balakayati and Sidakan areas. On August 3, 1997, as a result of the explosion of a mine planted by PKK fighters, he was martyred in the war of defending the rule of law in Robi and Rwal Mountain in the Sidakan area.
