Martyr Sahim Saeed Maruf was born in 1970 in the village of Bashiriyan, belonging to the town of Kalak in the Bardarash district of Duhok Governorate. He was literate and married.
In 1991, he joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. In 1994, he became a Peshmerga, and in 1996 he was appointed commander of a battalion in the Sidan Army. He took part in the battles of the Sidan area. On 2 April 1997, during the battle defending the supremacy of law in Sidan, he was martyred there by PKK militants.
