Struggle Record

Martyr Qadir Karim Mahmud Mustafa joined the Aylul Revolution in 1969 and became a Peshmerga in the Khabat force. In 1974, with the resumption of the war between the revolution and the Iraqi Army, Qadir Karim was transferred to the Kamal Hawari branch, and their headquarters and positions were on Azmar Mountain.

On June 2, 1974, Martyr Qadir Karim and 10 of his comrade Peshmerga set off from Azmar Mountain towards the Hawraman and Halabja region. When they approached the Arbat sub-district, they saw a large military force heading towards the Darbandikhan sub-district. Their commander, who was Kamal Hawari, divided the Peshmerga and set an ambush for the military convoy from several directions. A fierce confrontation and clash occurred, and until near evening, the Peshmerga held back the Iraqi Army convoy and caused them heavy losses and damage. In that battle, Kamal Hawari was martyred along with two of his comrades named Ali Mazali and Fataha Sur.

Martyr Qadir Karim and his comrades decided not to leave the bodies of those three martyrs behind and to transport them to their own positions on Azmar Mountain. After leaving the Arbat sub-district, Martyr Qadir Karim, who was carrying the body of Martyr Ali Mazali on his back, stepped on a planted mine, which exploded under him, and he was martyred. Along with him, another comrade named Ibrahim Ghafur was severely wounded. However, their comrades transported the bodies of all four martyrs on their backs to their own positions on Azmar Mountain.
