Omar Rahim Ahmed was born in 1945 in the village of Pirdawd, which belongs to the Shamamk sub-district of the Qushtapa district in Erbil Governorate. He was a villager engaged in farming, had completed primary school, was married, and had one son.

Omar Rahim Ahmed joined the Peshmerga Forces in 1970 Aylul Revolution and became a Peshmerga in the Azadi Force, which was part of the 2nd Branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, under the command of Khurshid Shera. In 1974, he participated in the Battle of Bestana, the Battle of Koya Plain, the Battle of Mount Safin, and the Battle of Kele Shin. In the Battle of Kele Shin, he was shot and severely wounded. After receiving treatment and taking a short break of a few days in 1974, which coincided with the 28th day of the month of Ramadan, he returned to the village of Pirdawd to be with his family. Information about him was provided by some traitors, and therefore, on the following day, a large force surrounded his house. He confronted the force and was able to kill seven soldiers and wound 12 others. Consequently, the Iraqi Army force retreated and shelled the house from the entrance of the village using a DShK machine gun mounted on a tank. He was hit by three DShK bullets in the head and was martyred. His body fell into the hands of the Iraqi Army soldiers, who took it into the city of Erbil and desecrated it. His body was recovered in a mutilated state by some figures from the city of Erbil and was laid to rest. This heroism of Omar Rahim Ahmed became a topic of discussion in the city of Erbil and its surroundings, which is why several artistic works have been produced about it by writers and artists under the name of the Pirdawd Epic.
