Struggle Record

In the year 1961, at the beginning of the Aylul Revolution, along with Mahmud Kawani, Martyr Kamal Hamza Wasu Hussein and his brother Jamal became Peshmerga and went to Mount Safin for a mission. In the year 1962, after the martyrdom of Mahmud Kawani, they went to Hashim Papir and continued their Peshmerga struggle. They were then transferred to the Shaqlawa area of the 2nd Branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, where they continued their Peshmerga and political struggle. At the same time, they maintained their relationship with Hashim Papir, participating in battles and epics as Peshmerga with him.

In the year 1966, Jamal, Kamal, and their father were transferred to the 7th Ako Battalion under the command of Abbas Agha, affiliated with the 2nd Army of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. Their father, Hamza Wasu, received the rank of Head of Branch, and his brothers Jamal and Kamal received the rank of squad leader. In the year 1969, their father Hamza Wasu was martyred, and they continued their Peshmerga struggle until the collapse of the Aylul Revolution in the year 1975.

In the year 1975, after the collapse of the revolution, they became refugees in the country of Iran and settled in the city of Naqada. In that same year, they reconnected with Mela Gharib and continued their Peshmerga struggle as Peshmerga of the regional committee. In the year 1979, they participated in the 9th Congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the city of Ziwe in Eastern Kurdistan. After the congress, they remained as Peshmerga of the 2nd Branch and continued their Peshmerga struggle in Hashim Papir's battalion, affiliated with the Shaqlawa regional committee. Their headquarters were in Kupara and Konelajan.

In the year 1983, the forces affiliated with the 2nd Branch committee, along with part of the force of the 1st Branch committee, were distributed on Mount Qandil and the villages surrounding the towns of Ranya and Qaladize. Therefore, part of Mela Gharib's, Hashim Papir's, and Hasso Mirxan Zhazhoki's force, and several Peshmerga of the 1st Branch committee, went to the heights of the village of Enze and Lewzhe behind the town of Qaladize. On the date of August 13, 1983, a large force of the PUK, with the guidance of people from the region, launched a major attack on this Peshmerga position. After a heavy and hand-to-hand battle, the brothers Jamal and Kamal were martyred in the same trench. Along with them in that attack, a group of Peshmerga and commanders were martyred, including Martyr Amir Az, known as Martyr Kako; Martyr Sardar Amir Az, known as Sardar the Martyr Kako; Martyr Qadir; and Martyr Mamand Waisi. Also, the force of the 1st Branch committee fell alive into the hands of the PUK forces; they were eight Peshmerga. They were executed as prisoners of war by PUK officials and were martyred. In that same battle, Hashim Papir, as the commander of the force, was very severely wounded, and even now, due to the effects of that wound, he has become disabled. Martyr Jamal's father was also a martyr of the Aylul Revolution era.

By the order of President Masoud Barzani in the year 2009, the remains of those martyrs were transferred in a dignified ceremony to the Goratu sub-district in the Mergasor district and were buried there.
