After returning from exile, Ismail Hacik Cami worked in 1995 at the school of President Masoud Barzani.
In 2005, after the establishment of the Kurdistan Regional Government, he managed the special affairs of the President of the Kurdistan Region.
On 6 October 2022, at the 14th Congress in Duhok, he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). After the congress, he assumed responsibility for the Barzani Headquarters in Pirmam.
