Hamid Ali became a refugee in Iran with his family in 1975 after the defeat of the Aylul Revolution.
On 6 November 2022, at the fourteenth Congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the city of Duhok, he was elected by the congress members as a member of the Central Committee.
