Martyr Farhad Smail Zahir was born in 1970 in the village of Qalitan, affiliated with the Sidekan district of Erbil Governorate. He was married and worked as a farmer.
In 1991, after the popular uprising in South Kurdistan, he joined the organizations of Kurdistan Democratic Party and in 1995 he became a Peshmerga in the Sidekan Army. He participated in all the wars of defending the rule of law in the Sidekan area. On December 24, 1995, in the village of Qalitan in the Sidekan area, he was martyred in the war of defending the rule of law at the hands of PKK fighters.
