In the year 1977, the Gufki and Bilmbir headquarters of the Peshmerga in the Provisional Command were located close to each other in the Barwari Bala region. The Gufki headquarters housed a large number of Peshmerga; in addition to the Haji Qado detachment, there were the detachments of Muhammad Khalid Boseli and Muhammad Guda, which included more than one hundred Peshmerga in that headquarters. Conversely, the Bilmbir headquarters had only the Ahmed Shane detachment. On May 25, 1977, a large force of the regime's army, consisting of 500 officers and soldiers and supported by nine personnel-carrying helicopters and a silent fighter (the Super Frelon), launched an attack on the Bilmbir headquarters from three fronts: east, west, and south (Super Frelon helicopters had been recently purchased from France, and it was the first time the army used them against the Peshmerga). Fighting broke out between the two sides. After hearing the sounds of gunfire at the Gufki headquarters, Haji Qado, Muhammad Khalid, and Muhammad Guda set out with about sixty Peshmerga fighters to help their comrades. On the way, they were also attacked by aircraft. Near the Ahmed Shane headquarters, Hassan Hajer, Haji Qado's cousin and a detachment commander, and another Peshmerga fighter were martyred as a result of the helicopter shelling. Mirxan, Shammo, and three other Peshmerga fighters belonging to Haji Qado were also wounded. The aircraft were flying at a low altitude and were evacuating the bodies of their dead and even the bodies of the martyred Peshmerga. The entire force had only one rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher and three shells for it. After using them, the aircraft became less bold about flying at a low altitude. When the Peshmerga belonging to Haji Qado, Muhammad Khalid, and Muhammad Guda arrived, Ahmed Shane and many of his fighters had run out of ammunition.
But they continued to resist, and with the arrival of this force, the Peshmerga shifted their positions from defense to attack, and they were able to kill a large number of army soldiers on the battlefield and force the army to retreat. The aircraft evacuated the bodies and wounded of its soldiers as much as possible, and even the bodies of Zorab and another martyred Peshmerga from the battlefield. A Peshmerga fighter named Rasul Doski was also captured by the army and taken with them, and on the way back, they threw Rasul Doski alive from the aircraft, and he was martyred.
The fighting resulted in the martyrdom of eight Peshmerga, two of whom had recently joined the Peshmerga forces, in addition to four civilians. Nine Peshmerga fighters were wounded, including Salih Seto and Ahmed Shane himself. Ali Haruri, one of the Peshmerga fighters belonging to Ahmed Shane, was also martyred after being hit by dozens of bullets. Zoran Abdul Aziz (Anwar) was also martyred on the same day. The regime's army also suffered more than 45 to 50 dead. The bodies of the martyrs were transported by Haji Qado, Lieutenant Muhammad Surani, Muhammad Khalid, Muhammad Guda, and the Peshmerga fighters to the village of Arushi, where they were buried, and after that, they returned to the Gufki headquarters.
The next day, Haji Qado, accompanied by four Peshmerga, decided to return to the Bilmbir headquarters to bring the weapons that had been left there. Thus, they set out towards the Bilmbir headquarters, and after they collected the weapons and loaded them, they decided to have lunch there and then return to the Valley of the Martyrs. On the same day, i.e., May 26, four Super Frelon helicopters returned to the Bilmbir headquarters where Haji Qado and his Peshmerga comrades were present. Suddenly, the aircraft appeared from behind the valley, and the Peshmerga did not have the preparation or the opportunity to defend themselves. As a result of the gunfire and shelling from the aircraft, Haji Qado was martyred immediately at the scene.
The next day, i.e., May 27, 1977, the regime's army arrived again via seven troop transport helicopters to the Gufki camp. After the landing, the regime's army soldiers launched a large-scale attack on the Peshmerga forces. Although the Peshmerga forces had lost their commander and many heroic Peshmerga fighters the previous day, they defended bravely and severely defeated the attacking army and forced them to retreat.
After this battle, several other detachments arrived at the Valley of the Martyrs and the Gufki camp to guard the place and the graves of the martyrs, because they had received news that the regime intended to come to the area by aircraft and transport the bodies. The detachments remained in the area for forty days until they were sure that the army would not return for this purpose.
