The Battle of Balisan
On the 26th of February, 1988, the Peshmerga forces found themselves under attack in the Balisan Valley by the Iraqi army. This assault was launched from the Betwata and Khalifan fronts, marking a significant and large-scale offensive. The Peshmerga forces effectively engaged the Iraqi forces using a well-coordinated military strategy, bolstered by tanks, artillery, guns, and warplanes. Consequently, the government forces suffered a resounding defeat by nightfall.
